Go Cats, beat the Hawks!
K-State Football
This year's Sunflower Showdown will be held in Bill Snyder Family Stadium in The Little Apple®. The Wildcats will host KU's Jayhawks, with kickoff sceduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The best way to enjoy the game is at the stadium, after a morning tailgate breakfast. So make plans to be there!

If you can't attend the game, you can follow the action on television as the VERSUS network will cover the game. Check out Wildcat Gameweek at the link below for all the details.

Happy Birthday Strecker-Nelson Gallery!
Be there to celebrate the birthday of the oldest art gallery in Kansas with founder, Julie Strecker; past manager, Kate Cashman; and current owners Barbara and Jay Nelson. They will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the gallery and the 100th anniversary of the building.

The party is on Sunday, Nov. 8, from 12-5 pm at the Strecker-Nelson Gallery, located at 406 1/2 Poyntz Avenue in downtown Manhattan

Honoring Veterans!
Veteran's Day Parade
Manhattan will honor America’s military forces and remember the nation’s veterans with its Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11 beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The parade will feature Major General Vincent K. Brooks, the commanding general, 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley, as the parade Grand Marshal. The 1st Infantry Brigade of Fort Riley will march in the parade, while the Combat Aviation Brigade will provide a flyover of two Apache attack helicopters and two Blackhawks.

This year, the parade will travel west along Poyntz Avenue, beginning at Manhattan Town Center and concluding at Manhattan’s City Hall. A patriotic ceremony is scheduled after the parade in the City Auditorium of City Hall beginning at approximately 11 a.m.

As in previous years, the parade will also feature the participation of many elementary and middle school classes from Manhattan and the region.

The day will begin with a breakfast from 7-9 a.m. at American Legion Post No. 17. A $4 donation for each breakfast meal will be appreciated.

Wrap it Up!
The Holiday shopping tradition is back at the MAC! The special exhibition of local artists, Wrap it Up is now showing at the Manhattan Arts Center.

Here is a great opportunity to purchase that one-of-a-kind gift for that special person on your shopping list. Works in the exhibition include glass, ceramics, paintings, wood, notecards, textiles and more, all created by local artist. Many pieces are priced under $100, including prices as low as $5.

The best part of this unique show happens when you make your purchase. You will get to "wrap it up" and take it with you. Show hours are Monday through Friday from 10-5 p.m., Saturdays from 10-4 p.m., and Sundays from 12-4 p.m. So get out, visit the Manhattan Arts Center, and Wrap it Up!

Get your Buttons 'n Bows
Buttons 'n Bows
Before you know it, the holiday season will be here. Get an early start on your holiday decorating and gift shopping by attending Buttons ‘n Bows, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 8:30-4:30 p.m. at Manhattan Catholic Schools.

This arts and crafts fair will bring in vendors from several states selling their original hand-crafted works, including jewelry and decorative items in wood, pottery, fabric, weavings, and more. This year’s fair will be so large, it will take three buildings to contain it all!

The day will include the Manhattan Catholic Schools PTO Bake Sale. A concession stand with cinnamon rolls and sloppy joes will also be open during the fair. The $1 admission fee makes you eligible for the handmade quilt drawing.

Public Meeting on Tuttle Creek park entrance
Tuttle Creek State Park will host a public meeting to discuss the future of entrances into Tuttle Creek State Park’s River Pond Area on Monday, Nov. 16, at the Manhattan Fire Station, 2000 Denison in Manhattan. The meeting will run from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. and will include a presentation and a public comment period. The public is encouraged to attend. There is no charge for attending the meeting.
