A rural community of 5,000, Wamego is located along the banks of the Kansas River, approximately 15 miles east of Manhattan on U.S. Highway 24.

The Columbian Theatre Museum and Art Center is a renovated 19th Century opera house exhibiting six rare paintings and other artifacts from the 1893 Chicago’s World Fair. The Columbian offers special exhibits on the main floor gallery and a performing arts series in the theatre. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm and closed on Sunday. For more information call (800) 899-1893.

The Dutch Mill, Kansas’ only operating stone mill, is the central figure of the Museum complex in Wamego’s 13.6-acre city park, which is framed with a beautiful one-acre pond.
